Another one of those drawings where at one point I went "Screw it all, I want to be finished already!!!"

Sychanth has always been a difficult character to capture, as he has a really unique personality, but I think I just might have nailed him here... at least in expression and overall demeanor.
This was mostly a painting practice however, trying to figure out what colors work best on him. I'm actually really thankful I have a solid white snake to take references from for this! How handy is it to be able to grab your critter with white scales and pop outside for a few color ref shots?

The design of the Zylthagadon face in general is still changing, but I'm getting closer to settling on something! Recent additions are the curving spikes on the cheeks, the idea being the largest bottom set can flex out or flatten down. Inspiration taken from bearded dragons (they have the most fascinating faces, have you ever just stared at one?).

That is all :) I wanted to save as much of my painting mojo for a full body pic I have in the works for him.

Yes I wanted to put him in AATR... it would've been epic... but I'm glad I've had the extra time to figure out his facial details.

your way to color amazes me <3

I just realised how cool it is that you can bring out different feelings of a color depending on which color you shade it with, like how "warm" this white gets when it's shaded in a red-ish brown
